Bale injured in 2-2 draw against Villarreal

Gareth Bale suffered a suspected calf injury as he was substituted at half time during Real’s 2-2 midweek draw against Villarreal at El Madrigal. Former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla scored twice as the Yellow Submarines held Santiago Solari’s men to a draw.

Bale played the first half, with Real leading 2-1 at the interval thanks to goals from Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema, but was replaced by Isco when the two teams came out after the break.

Real’s next game will be at home to Real Sociedad, while Villarreal will travel to Eibar this weekend.

A 19,903 strong crowd was present to watch Villarreal’s clash against Los Blancos.

Bale to miss crunch midweek clash against Villarreal

Real Madrid will be without Gareth Bale for their crucial midweek clash against Villarreal. Zinedine Zidane’s side are only one point behind joint leaders Barcelona and Atletico and have the advantage of playing after their rivals AND at home, with both the Blaugrana and Los Colchoneros having to travel to Deportivo and Bilbao respectively.

Apart from the injured Bale, Real will also have to do without the services of Daniel Carvajal. Bale is expected to be back for the weekend clash against Rayo, while Carvajal should return in time for the first leg of next week’s Champions League semifinal against Man City. Continue reading
