Bale injured, Real suffer shock loss to Alaves

Real Madrid’s scoring woes continued as Los Blancos were beaten 1-0 by tiny Alaves over the weekend- the first time in 87 years that they have lost away to the Babazorros. Alaves clinched the win thanks to a late goal from Manu Garcia that leaves Real boss Julen Lopetegui in a very precarious position. The international break could perhaps have not come at a better time for the manager, with Real winless in four games and more importantly, scoreless in those four (their worst streak since 1985)

To make matters worse for Real, star forwards Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema were both substituted due to injury. Benzema was replaced at half time by Mariano Diaz while Bale played 80 before coming off for Vincius Jr. Continue reading

Deportivo Alaves 1-2 Real Madrid | Bale unused substitute

Gareth Bale was an unused substitute as Real Madrid registered a 2-1 win over struggling Deportivo Alaves over the weekend. Bale was benched along with former Spurs team-mate Luka Modric, and neither saw action in this game as Dani Ceballos’ first half double gave Madrid victory over Alaves, who are now the only league team without a point following Malaga’s 3-3 home draw against Athletic Bilbao.
