Wales 1-2 Denmark | Bale scores but Ryan Giggs’ side miss out on promotion

Gareth Bale scored but his Welsh side missed out on promotion to League A following a 2-1 defeat in Cardiff to Denmark.

A win for Wales, who were on 6 points from 3 games going into the fixture, would’ve seen them promoted, but they lost in front of a 32,354 strong crowd as goals from Nicolai Jorgensen and Martin Braithwaite gave the Danes victory. Bale scored a late goal to set up a tense finale, but the Danes held on to complete a home and away set over Ryan Giggs’ men, having beaten them 2-0 in Aarhus back in September. Continue reading

Celta 2-4 Real Madrid- Solari gets job on permanent basis

An impressive display from Real Madrid at the Balaidos saw them beat Celta 4-2 and earn interim manager Santiago Solari the role on a permanent basis. La Liga regulations stipulate that an interim manager cannot be in charge for more than fifteen days, and Real’s form with Solari, which has seen them win four in a row, was enough to convince the board that the Argentine was the right man to repair the damage caused by Julen Lopetegui. Bale injured, Real suffer shock loss to Alaves

Real Madrid’s scoring woes continued as Los Blancos were beaten 1-0 by tiny Alaves over the weekend- the first time in 87 years that they have lost away to the Babazorros. Alaves clinched the win thanks to a late goal from Manu Garcia that leaves Real boss Julen Lopetegui in a very precarious position. The international break could perhaps have not come at a better time for the manager, with Real winless in four games and more importantly, scoreless in those four (their worst streak since 1985)

To make matters worse for Real, star forwards Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema were both substituted due to injury. Benzema was replaced at half time by Mariano Diaz while Bale played 80 before coming off for Vincius Jr. Continue reading
