Bale introduced from bench as Real beat Unai Emery’s side 3-1 in first leg

Gareth Bale came off the bench to help Real Madrid beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie. Bale stars as Real thrash Deportivo

Gareth Bale scored twice as Real won a home league game for the first time since early December with a 7-1 demolition of Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu.

The Welsh star netted twice, one a beautiful curled effort and the other a header, and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Bernabeu for his efforts. His goals came in the 42nd and 58th minutes of the game.

Bale played 82 minutes of the game before being replaced by Lucas Vazquez.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo also scored twice in this game, a rare achievement for him in a season where he has struggled in front of goal.

Real Madrid win Club World Cup final against Gremio

Real Madrid become the first team to win back to back Club World Cup titles after beating Gremio 1-0 in the final at Abu Dhabi. Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the winner for Real, with 41,094 fans in attendance for the final clash.

Gareth Bale, scorer of the winner that saw Real edge Al Jazira in the semifinals, came off the bench in the 79th minute as a substitute for Karim Benzema. Lucas coming on for Isco was the other sub employed by Real manager Zinedine Zidane, who adds another trophy to his burgeoning cabinet. Continue reading
