Bale on bench as Real beat Espanyol 1-0

Gareth Bale was an unused substituted as Real Madrid came up with a hard fought win over Espanyol at the Bernabeu. Julien Lopetegui’s side edged the fixture thanks to Marco Asensio’s 41st minute strike.

Bale was one of several first team regulars rested by Lopetegui with one eye on their upcoming away clash at Sevilla. The likes of Marcelo and Toni Kroos didn’t participate in the game either.

The win however sees Real draw level on points with arch rivals Barcelona, who drew 2-2 at home against Girona. Both teams now have 13 points from 5 games.

Bale scores as Real beat Roma 3-0 in Champions League

Gareth Bale was among the scorers as Real Madrid began the defence of their Champions Leagu title with a 3-0 win over AS Roma at the Bernabeu.

In front of the 69,251 strong home crowd, Real went ahead just before the break through Isco. Bale doubled their advantage on 58 minutes, with Mariano Diaz adding a stunning third in second half stoppage time.

Bale provides assist for equaliser as Real Madrid draw at San Mames

Gareth Bale provided the assist for Isco’s equalising goal as Real Madrid dropped points in the league for the first time this season after a 1-1 draw at San Mames against Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic took the lead in the 32nd minute through Iker Muniain, but Real equalised through Isco in the 63rd minute.

Bale played 75 minutes in this fixture before being replaced by Lucas Vazquez.

The result means that Athletic have drawn against Real in the last three games played between the two sides.

Real will be next seen in action in midweek when they host Roma in the Champions League.
