Bale-less Real Madrid upset in Moscow

Real Madrid suffered a shock defeat in Moscow as they were beaten 1-0 by CSKA Moscow. The Russians edged Julen Lopetegui’s side thanks to a second minute goal from Croatian Nikolai Vlasic (from a Real defensive mistake), which proved to be the difference between the two sides at the final whistle. It was the first time in 30 Champions League games that Real had failed to score a goal, and a crowd of 71.811, better than than 69.251 Real had at the Bernabeu for the Roma fixture, and the third biggest attendance in the Champions League season so far , saw CSKA register a famous win.

It is also the first time in 12 years that Real have gone three consecutive games without scoring a goal (they were beaten 3-0 by Sevilla and drew 0-0 with Atleti before this fixture).

Real’s next game is away to Deportivo Alaves, who are surprisingly 6th in the league table, and are yet to lose a game at home this season.

Bale injured as Real draw with Atletico

Gareth Bale suffered a muscle injury as Real drew against Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening. Real fans would’ve been hoping for a statement at home against their local rivals after the defeat in midweek against Sevilla but had to instead settle for a goalless stalemate.

Bale played 45 minutes before being replaced by Dani Ceballos.

Fortunately for Real, Barcelona have also mirrored their form with defeat away at Leganes and a draw at home to Athletic Club, meaning that the two sides are still neck and neck in the league standings.

Bale is expected to be a doubt for Real’s next game- a Champions League clash away in Moscow against CSKA.

Real suffer defeat away at Sevilla

Real Madrid’s recent poor record at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan continued as Sevilla beat them 3-0 in this midweek clash. The result was Real’s first league defeat of the season and Los Rojiblancos picked up the win thanks to a double from Andre Silva, the Portuguese forward who moved on loan to the Andalusian outfit from AC Milan in the summer.

Gareth Bale played the full 90 minutes in the league for the first time this season under Lopetegui.

Fortunately for Real, Barcelona also suffered defeat away at Leganes, the first time since 2015 that both teams have lost in the same round of the league.

Real’s next game is a home fixture against Atleti.
